Position: Store Manager

Department: Stores & Inventory

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage the overall operations of the central store and site stores.
  2. Ensure timely receipt, storage, issue, and dispatch of construction materials.
  3. Verify all incoming materials against Purchase Orders (PO), Delivery Challans, and Goods Receipt Notes (GRN).
  4. Maintain accurate stock records in ERP/software and physical registers.
  5. Monitor stock levels and raise material requisitions to avoid shortages.
  6. Ensure proper storage, identification, and preservation of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  7. Conduct periodic physical stock verification and reconcile differences with system records.
  8. Maintain minimum, maximum, and reorder stock levels for critical materials.
  9. Coordinate with Procurement, Project Managers, Site Engineers, and Accounts for smooth material flow.
  10. Ensure timely issue of materials to sites based on approved Material Requisition Slips (MRS).
  11. Monitor material consumption and identify abnormal usage or wastage.
  12. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and stock movement reports.
  13. Maintain records of returnable materials, scrap, damaged materials, and surplus inventory.
  14. Implement FIFO (First In First Out) or FEFO (First Expiry First Out) wherever applicable.
  15. Ensure proper documentation for material inward, outward, transfers, and returns.
  16. Maintain records of tools, machinery, and assets issued to employees and subcontractors.
  17. Ensure proper tagging and tracking of company assets.
  18. Coordinate with logistics for timely transportation of materials between stores and project sites.
  19. Monitor material handling to prevent damage, theft, and pilferage.
  20. Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and statutory regulations.
  21. Maintain housekeeping, safety, and security within the store premises.
  22. Supervise store assistants, storekeepers, and helpers, ensuring efficient workflow.
  23. Train store personnel on inventory procedures and documentation.
  24. Support internal and external audits by providing required inventory records.
  25. Prepare monthly inventory valuation reports and assist the Accounts Department during stock closing.
  26. Identify slow-moving, non-moving, and obsolete inventory and recommend corrective actions.
  27. Ensure calibration, maintenance, and proper storage of measuring instruments where applicable.
  28. Maintain vendor-wise and project-wise material records for effective tracking.
  29. Implement inventory control measures to minimize losses and improve efficiency.
  30. Perform any other duties assigned by the management related to store and inventory operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree + 3 plus years Exp
  • Certification in Inventory Management or Material Management is an added advantage.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in store and inventory management, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Experience in handling central stores and multiple project sites.
